The Asutosh College shifted to its current location in 1935.
The present college building has a premise of forty thousand square feet and more than fifty classrooms which can contain about 4000 students. Twenty-seven subjects are taught as Honors/Major at the Undergraduate level.
In the year 2002, a post graduation course in Environmental Science was introduced. All the departments have their own libraries and well-organized laboratories for Science departments.

Permission sought for founding a College in South Calcutta under the visionary leadership of mathematician, educationist, patriot, and vice-chancellor of Calcutta University Sir Asutosh Mukherjee. |
| 1916 |
Approval from Govt. of India to upgrade South Suburban School into an intermediate College. English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Logic, Mathematics and Botany were to be introduced as disciplines. |

College named as South Suburban College and Sir Asutosh elected President of its Governing Body. It was decided that the college would function from 26, Lansdown Road, Calcutta. |

The college started to function formally. |
| 1917 |
The college shifted to Bijni House, 157 Russa Road, Calcutta. (Later this house was demolished for constructing Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute.) |
| 1918 |
Intermediate College upgraded to Degree College with English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Philosophy, History and Economics (Political Economy and Political Philosophy). |

Sir Asutosh passed away on 25th May. South Suburban College renamed as ASUTOSH COLLEGE from 15th June. |

Teaching of Science subjects started. |
| 1929 |
The Asutosh Mukherjee Memorial Institute, founded in 1927 appealed to Calcutta Corporation for a portion of land from Hazra Park to be leased to the institute for construction of a new building for Asutosh College, a library and an auditorium. |
| 1934 |
Sri Shyamaprasad Mukherjee took over as President of the Governing Body and served the college in this capacity till his death. |
| 1935 |
Asutosh College shifted to the newly constructed building under the initiative of Sri Shyamaprasad, that exists today. |

Asutosh College Training Centre (ACTC) was formed in the Platinum Jubilee Year of the college (1991) to equip students for job-screening examinations. |
| 1995 |
The Department of Computer Science was formed. |
| 2001 |
The first undergraduate batch in Computer Science Honours degree admitted. |
| 2009 |
M.A./M.Sc. Course in Geography was introduced. |

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Environmental Science and M.A. Course in Bengali. |
